Below is summary of the experience and skills of the Medivate Management Team:

Andrew Mortimer

Andrew has spent the last 18 months researching and designing the current Medic product. This is the product which Medivate anticipates using as the core of the future Medivate product line. Andrew has a National Diploma in Ambulance Emergency Technology and as such is a qualified Advanced Life Support Paramedic.

Andrew has spent the last 5 years managing his own successful disaster and emergency consultancy with contracts in South Africa, Africa and the Middle East. This has allowed Andrew to develop experience in the local and international health services industry as well to develop his already extensive emergency service and acute health care networks.

Prior to owning his own business Andrew was the General Manager of a well known Hospitality and Tourism Business for over 5 years. Andrew has also worked as an operational ALS Paramedic in both the public and private EMS in South Africa, and internationally. Andrew has over 10 years General Management experience and 10 years Emergency Management experience.

Julian Fleming

Julian Fleming initially studied medicine at Wits. It was here that he developed a passion for emergency medicine and education and training. Upon completing internship and community service, and spending some time in the United Kingdom, he started working in senior management as Principal Medical Officer at Netcare 911, gaining valuable insight into the operational and management functions of a national leader in emergency assistance. He then decided to undertake post graduate training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Cape Town (M.Phil EM) and started a new Emergency Unit practice in the Netcare Blaauwberg hospital. This practice was consistently rated in the top 3 of all Netcare Emergency Units throughout the country in terms of patient satisfaction.

Julian started Acute Care Consulting in 2008, applying his knowledge to various medical solutions for several clients.  He regularly performs Emergency Physician Consultant locums in the United Kingdom, and has retained his passion for emergency medicine. He hopes to improve systems throughout South Africa to keep pace with advancements throughout the world.

Dirk Roets

Dirk currently holds the position of general manager in GeoMed (Pty) Ltd, a company specializing in research and development for technology related to the health industry.  GeoMed has been sub-contracted to do the software development for the current Medic product for which Dirk acted as the project and development manager over the last 18 months.  Dirk has a B. Sc. (IT) degree and has more than six years experience in IT and software development management and three years experience in general management.

Tobie Kristoffersen

Tobie has been involved in the IT industry for 13 years. During this time he has had a wide exposure to both international and South African companies. Most recently, he has worked closely with Andrew Mortimer as the lead developer for the current Medic product.  Leveraging his formal background in Computer Science, his work background spans enterprise application development, database design, computer networks to project management.  Prior to the current project, he has co-founded an Internet Service Provider in Norway, engineered mission-critical IT systems in South Africa and continues to build quality software for Medivate.
